A powerful cyclone will bring snow and blizzards to Kazakhstan

Over the next couple of days, the weather across Kazakhstan will be shaped by a cyclone rapidly moving from west to east. It will bring snow, blizzards, and stronger winds, while icy conditions are expected in the western regions.

A cold outbreak

However, as early as December 25, the cyclone will be replaced by a cold outbreak, which will cause nighttime temperatures to drop to -20 to -25°C in the west of the country and -23 to -28°C in the north.

“Only in the south of the country will relatively warm weather persist, with daytime temperatures rising to +2 to +7°C,” the forecasters said.

Winter in Kazakhstan

This year, the first day of winter was precipitation-free in most regions of Kazakhstan. The country experienced anomalous weather: there was not only no snow cover, but also no sign of snowfall. According to forecasters, if such weather patterns continue, winters with rare snow—or even without it—may become the norm for Kazakhstan.
