Tengrinews.kz - Julia Chatterley, a CNN journalist, shared her impressions after interviewing Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, according to Khabar 24.
According to Chatterley, President Tokayev openly discusses his thoughts and is transparent about the difficulties his country faces.
"Kazakhstan (...) delicately balances in a complex environment. The President places his hopes in the youth. I appreciated his comments about the importance of traveling and understanding the world. This is exactly what we need from future leaders. He is very open about his thoughts and honest about the challenges. It’s not easy to be in his position - leading a vast country where people aspire for more and better, while also relying on global trade and relations," Chatterley said.
She also mentioned Tokayev's recent discussion with former U.S. President Donald Trump, during which they covered important topics, including the Russia-Ukraine situation.
Chatterley served as the moderator for a special session in the Newsmaker Interview format at the Doha Forum, where Tokayev was a guest of honor. The President addressed questions on the United Nations, trade conflicts, Kazakhstan's foreign policy, and the role of youth in the country's development, as well as issues related to Ukraine and the Middle East.
Julia Chatterley, originally from the UK, hosts CNN's First Move and has previously worked for PBS's Nightly Business Report and Bloomberg.
On December 6, President Tokayev arrived in Qatar for the Doha Forum, where he participated in the panel session.
