Tengrinews.kz - China is prepared to take its relations with Kazakhstan to a new level by strengthening its strategic partnership, according to Guo Jiakun, the official representative of China’s Foreign Ministry, according to 24KZ.
The statement came in response to an interview given by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the newspaper "Ana Tili", in which he emphasized that "Kazakhstan is a key strategic partner for China."
Guo Jiakun noted that 2024 has been another "dynamic year" for Sino-Kazakh relations, with increased engagement between the leaders of the two countries boosting bilateral cooperation. There has also been a rise in high-level visits and continued strengthening of trade, economic, and cultural ties.
"China and Kazakhstan are friendly neighbors with deep mutual trust, linked by both mountains and rivers. Cooperation between the two countries is active and comprehensive across various fields. In the new year, China is ready to further align its development strategies with Kazakhstan, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly address current issues, and elevate bilateral relations to a new level," Guo Jiakun said.
Previously, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, addressed recent comments by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened to impose 100% tariffs on BRICS countries if they proceed with plans to create a currency alternative to the U.S. dollar.
