Tengrinews.kz - The assembly of the first carriages for Astana LRT has begun in the city of Tangshan in China. 19 modern unmanned trains are being manufactured there, according to the capital's akimat (local government organization).

The first trains are expected to arrive in Astana in September, after which their testing will begin.

The 60-meter rolling stock will be equipped with a hardware and software complex with automation level GOA 4, which provides:

  • automatic opening and closing of doors;
  • stopping and accelerating;
  • entering and leaving the depot;
  • monitoring the condition of trains;
  • monitoring the distance between trains;
  • performing other functions without the participation of the operator (driver).

Four-section trains can accommodate more than 600 passengers when fully loaded

High-strength materials will be used in the cabins, including organosilicate leather and fiberglass composite, which will provide increased comfort for passengers.

The following materials are used to reduce noise:

  • thickened windows and sound-absorbing elements;
  • elastic wheels of increased diameter.

The trains are equipped with modern information systems:

  • external and internal boards;
  • LCD monitors displaying the route, the final and next stations, the side of the door opening, as well as emergency information.

Adaptation to Astana's climate

Considering the climatic conditions of the capital, the front window is equipped with an electric heating system with a temperature control range, which prevents fogging during sudden temperature changes.

The trains will be able to accelerate to 80 kilometers per hour. Control will be fully automated and unmanned but under the constant supervision of operators.

At the moment, the body elements from aluminum alloy are being manufactured and welded. The first rolling stock will be ready by the end of May. In September, the first trains will arrive in Astana, after which their test testing will begin.

"Test operation or test launch is an important stage before commissioning. During this period, all infrastructure elements, rolling stock, all equipment will be checked, that is, the integrity of the rails, the power supply system, all telecommunications systems will be checked. Based on the test data, we will collect a large array of data, which we will analyze, and based on the results, we will compile a large report, according to which a decision will be made on commissioning. The start of the test launch is scheduled for September of this year. These tests will continue for several months," explained Orynbasar Agbayev, Managing Director of CityTransportation Systems LLP.
