Tengrinews.kz – An 18-month-old baby swallowed 22 magnetic balls. With abdominal pain and a fever, he was taken to the hospital, where he was immediately operated on, KTK reports.
During the examination, doctors discovered magnetic balls inside the child, which had already stuck together.
Doctors feared a rupture of internal organs could occur and performed emergency surgery on the little patient. He is now recovering.
“In an emergency procedure, after preparation, the child was operated on. The magnets were removed. At present, the child’s condition is stable, and he has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular ward,” said Beibit Berdibekov, head of the emergency surgery department of the Karaganda Regional Clinical Hospital.
Earlier in Kostanay, a three-year-old child swallowed 10 magnets. He could not be saved and died on the operating table.
Following his death, a criminal investigation was launched, and pharmaceutical control authorities identified violations in the provision of medical care. However, according to the boy’s mother, no one has yet been held accountable. She says that since her son’s death, five investigators have been replaced, while examinations continue endlessly.
The child’s mother also accused the doctors of negligence, stating that if her son had been operated on immediately, he could have been saved.
