Tengrinews.kz – Mass poisoning of children occurred in Zhambyl region. On March 17, ten children from the "Nurai" preschool education center, located in the village of Merke, were admitted to the infectious diseases department of the Merke District Hospital.
Nine children were diagnosed with an acute intestinal infection, while one child was found to have an enterovirus infection.
"One child is in the intensive care unit, but their condition is stable, with positive progress observed," the Zhambyl Region Akimat reported.
By order of Zhambyl Region Akim Yerbol Karashukeev, a working group has been formed to thoroughly investigate each case. The causes of the incident are currently being determined.
"If necessary, the hospital is ready to set up additional beds for hospitalization. There is a sufficient supply of medications. As of today, the Merke District Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Department is conducting an inspection, with all samples taken, and experts are awaiting the test results," the akimat noted.
The center’s operations have been suspended for two days, and disinfection is being carried out in the building.
"Based on the inspection results, the competent authority will make an appropriate decision. As of now, the situation is stable and remains under control," the akimat's statement concluded.
