Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Issues of Mandatory Social Health Insurance and the Provision of Medical Services”, according to Akorda.

The law introduces a number of key innovations aimed at improving the healthcare system. These include:

  • Improving the accessibility and quality of medical care;
  • Creating a unified package of medical services to enhance coordination and increase efficiency;
  • Expanding the population's coverage under the Mandatory Social Health Insurance (MSHI) system;
  • Ensuring the financial sustainability of the healthcare system through joint participation of citizens, employers, and the state;
  • Promoting disease prevention and early diagnosis to reduce the severity and cost of treatment;
  • Increasing the motivation of medical organizations to provide high-quality and effective services;
  • Introducing mechanisms of transparency and accountability in the financing of medical care.

The law also establishes provisions to ensure access to medical care for officially registered unemployed individuals, as well as crisis and emergency category populations, funded by local budgets. Meanwhile, the government’s contribution rates to the MSHI system will be adjusted in stages.
