Tengrinews.kz – The Akimat of Astana has shared details about the transition to a new work schedule.
Chairman of the Astana Maslikhat, Tabigat Zeinulkabden, announced that a decision on Astana’s shift to a new working schedule would be made “soon.” The city authorities link these measures to efforts to reduce traffic congestion. Tengrinews.kz submitted an official request to the Akimat of Astana to learn more.
According to the city's Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development, analytical work is currently being conducted to gather data.
"Based on the collected information, proposals for changes to working hours will be developed. A decision will be made following a public hearing," the department stated in its response to the official request from Tengrinews.kz.
The Akimat is also considering other options to reduce traffic congestion, such as introducing one-way traffic systems, dedicated bus lanes, road construction and reconstruction, and making amendments to transport-related legal regulations.
"Work is underway on modeling Astana’s traffic flow through the management of traffic lights, a system of intersection video surveillance, and public transport dispatching. A final decision will be made upon completion of the impact analysis and coordination process," the department added.
As a reminder: as previously reported by the Chairman of the Astana Maslikhat, Tabigat Zeinulkabden, the Akimat of Astana is considering changing the work schedule for civil servants and other organizations. A decision will be made “in the near future.”
