Official opening of the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) was held in Astana today, June 8, Tengrinews.kz reports. Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev is taking part in the event. Chairman of the World Islamic Economic Forum gave a welcoming speech. Tun Musa bin Hitam talked about importance of the event. “We are part of the history of development of the global economy. We are currently witnessing seismic changes in the demography of the global economy after centuries of passive restoration of the Silk Way, the restoration not only in terms of increase of trade relations between different regions, such as South-East Asia, Middle East, Africa and Central Asia, but also in terms of alliance of people, cultures and different traditions,” WIEF Chairman said. Tun Musa bin Hitam noted that the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum is a platform uniting countries in business development. “We are opening the doors for Islamic countries,” concluded the Chairman. The Forum is attended by representatives of 45 countries, international financial institutions and organizations and outstanding scientists.
