Tengrinews.kz - Meteorologists from Kazhydromet have released a weather forecast for Kazakhstan from January 18 to 23.

An Atlantic cyclone, carrying humid air masses, will dominate the weather across most of Kazakhstan. Its frontal zones will bring snowstorms, and precipitation in the form of rain and snow in the west and south, and on January 20-21 in the north. The country will experience strong winds, fog, and icy conditions.

Heavy precipitation is expected on the night of January 18 in the Turkestan region. Intense snowfall is forecast for January 20 in the Ulytau region, January 21 in the Aktobe, Kostanay, and North Kazakhstan regions, January 21-22 in the Akmola region, and January 22 in the Pavlodar, Karaganda, Turkestan, Zhambyl, and Abai regions. On January 22-23, heavy snow is expected in the East Kazakhstan, Almaty, and Zhetysu regions.

Starting January 22, a cold air mass will spread across the country, leading to a sharp drop in temperatures at night:

  • West: -10 to -20°C
  • Northwest and North: -20 to -30°C
  • Central and Eastern regions: -25 to -35°C
  • South: -12 to -25°C

Meteorologists urge residents to prepare for severe cold and challenging weather conditions.
