Tengrinews.kz - The "Zhibek Zholy" border checkpoint between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be closed for four months starting February 5.

According to the State Revenue Committee, the closure is due to the completion of construction work at the "Gisht-Kuprik" checkpoint on the Uzbek side. Citizens crossing the border on foot or by private vehicle will need to use alternative routes.

Pedestrians can cross through the "Kaplanbek" and "Konysbaeva" checkpoints, as well as the "Syrdarya" and "Tselinny" control points.

Cargo trucks will be rerouted through the "Konysbaeva," "Atameken," "Kazygurt," and "Tazhen" checkpoints.

Rail transport will be redirected through the "Saryagash" and "Beineu" railway border crossings.

The committee reminded travelers to plan their trips considering the route changes.

Earlier, Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev announced that an additional 4000 kilometers of toll sections will be introduced in 2025.
