Tengrinews.kz – Today, on November 12, the appellate court of the Astana court considered the claim of the ex-wife of the convicted Kuandyk Bishimbayev, Nazym Kakharman, to deprive him of parental rights.

As Bishimbayev's lawyer, Erlan Gazymzhanov, told a Tengrinews.kz correspondent, his client spoke online during today's hearing.

"They have a special room in the institution where they participate in court proceedings. He went to this room and was connected via a cell phone," Gazymzhanov said.

According to the data provided by the parties to the process, the appellate board upheld the decision of the court of first instance: Kuandyk Bishimbayev will not be deprived of parental rights.

The ex-wife of Kuandyk Bishimbayev, Nazym Kakharman, told a Tengrinews.kz correspondent that she does not agree with this decision. She added that she was "upset and disappointed."

"Upset and disappointed. It feels like the court and the prosecutor's office are protecting Bishimbayev's interests. I don't agree (with the decision - ed.). We will think and fight further," said Nazym Kakharman.

Bishimbayev's lawyer, Erlan Gazymzhanov, in turn, added that the convicted ex-minister does not agree with the claim of his ex-wife.

"His position: he (Bishimbayev - ed.) does not agree with the claim of his ex-wife Nazym Kakharman. And he believes that the deprivation of parental rights was declared absolutely illegally and unfounded. And the court made the right conclusions that this claim cannot be satisfied on the grounds stated in it," Gazymzhanov commented.

Earlier it became known that Nazym Kakharman is seeking to deprive him of parental rights, which she stated at a press conference in Astana. She filed a lawsuit to have Kuandyk Bishimbayev stripped of his parental rights. The court denied her request, because Saltanat Nukenova was not Bishimbayev's legal wife, which means that he did not kill a relative or family member.

Previously, reports surfaced online claiming that Bishimbaev could not be located in any Kazakhstani prison colonies. A criminal case has been initiated over the spread of information on social media about the alleged escape of convicted former Minister.

Then lawyer Erlan Gazymzhanov commented on information circulating in the media claiming his client is not in the correctional facility.
