Tengrinews.kz - A military parade marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will take place in Astana on May 7, with reported costs reaching 2.5 billion tenge. When asked about the justification for such expenses, Senator Andrey Lukin defended the decision.
According to Lukin, the amount is "more than justified."
"This is a political issue that will be perceived positively by our society. Kazakhstanis are preparing to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and one of the major events will be the military parade of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan on May 7.
Given this, attention will be drawn not only from all Kazakhstanis but likely from the international community as well. In this regard, the decision is absolutely correct and raises no concerns. Any expenses are justified," Lukin stated.
Previously, in an interview with the newspaper "Ana Tili," President Tokayev emphasized that commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory will be a key part of the state agenda this year.
