Tengrinews.kz - An organized criminal group, consisting of individuals with previous convictions linked to criminal activity, has been detained in Astana. The suspects are believed to have committed a series of serious crimes, according to Polisia.kz.
The operation was conducted by the Organized Crime Control Unit of the Astana Police Department, with coordination from the prosecutor's office.
According to the investigation, in one episode, the criminals, using threats and violence, took 5 million tenge and a Toyota vehicle from a local resident. In another case, acting openly, they stole 6 million tenge in the area near one of the banks.
At the moment, all members of the group have been arrested.
"A check is being carried out to determine their involvement in other similar crimes. Pretrial investigations are underway for extortion and robbery committed by the group in conspiracy," said Kuandyk Alpys, a representative of the Organized Crime Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Previously, officers from the Department for Combating Cybercrime detained a foreign national in an apartment in Almaty.
