The XVII sitting of the Assembly of People has been opened in Astana today, April 18. The sitting will be presided over by President Nazarbayev, Tengrinews.kz reports.
The event is held to mark the 20th anniversary of the nation’s independence and will be focused on the 20 years of piece and accord.
Among those in attendance there will be heads of ethnic culture centers, parliamentarians, members of the Government, heads of political parties, leaders of religious groups, diplomatic missions.
President Nazarbayev is expected to outline his vision of how to further enhance inter-ethnic accord, including through a strategy of the Assembly development to 2020.
The Assembly of People of Kazakhstan is an important tool of the political system of Kazakhstan. It supports interests of all the ethnic groups and ensures the rights and freedoms of all citizens regardless of their ethnic origin and religion.
