Tengrinews.kz — On July 14, Astana set a new temperature record for this date in the entire history of meteorological observations.


According to the Kazhydromet observation network, the maximum air temperature in the capital reached +38.6 degrees Celsius. This is 3.3 degrees higher than the previous record for July 14. Prior to this, the hottest July 14 was recorded in 1992, when thermometers rose to +35.3 degrees.

The record was predicted in advance

Earlier, Kazhydromet forecasters warned that July 14 would be the hottest day in the capital. According to the forecast, air temperatures were expected to reach +37...+39 degrees, exceeding the historical maximum for this date.

At the same time, the heat approached record levels as early as July 13. As of 1:40 PM, the air temperature in Astana was +35.9 degrees. For comparison, the absolute maximum for July 13 was set back in 1935 and stood at +39.5 degrees.

As a reminder, on June 23, Astana set a new temperature record for that date, with the air warming up to +36.8 degrees. The previous record for June 23 was +36.4 degrees, recorded in 1941.
