Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has been called a friend of the Armenian people and a “bridge of peace” in Armenia.

Armenian journalist and public figure Mkrtich Israyelyan wrote about Tokayev on the Armenian news portal Zarkerak.am.

“President of Kazakhstan Tokayev is a friend of the Armenian people and a bridge of peace. The positive shifts observed in recent months in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations are not accidental. They are the result not only of the political will of both nations but also of consistent efforts by several partner countries and their leaders. In this context, the role of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stands out as a key one. From his first days in office, Tokayev has shown himself to be a balanced and constructive leader, constantly emphasizing that peace in the South Caucasus is not only a regional matter but also an integral part of Eurasian security,” the article states.

Israyelyan highlighted that Tokayev’s position “is marked by warmth and genuine respect toward both the leadership of Armenia and the Armenian people.”

“Tokayev has never been guided by mere political calculation — he seeks solutions that bring long-term benefits to all sides. His mediating and supportive role was particularly evident in the issue of opening transit routes from Azerbaijan toward Armenia. Kazakhstan’s active involvement and trusted mediation helped reduce tensions and create an atmosphere of mutual confidence. This process carries not only economic but also symbolic significance, showing that cooperation can overcome contradictions,” the article continues.

The author also noted that “beyond political mediation, Tokayev’s Kazakhstan is taking practical steps to strengthen economic ties with Armenia.”

“Of particular note is the implementation of a Kazakh wheat import program, which not only contributes to Armenia’s food stability but also opens new prospects for cooperation in agriculture. Tokayev can truly be described as a calm yet powerful bridge along which both Yerevan and Baku can move toward peace. His ‘win-win’ approach seems to have breathed new life into the entire region,” Israelyan wrote.

He added that Armenia and Kazakhstan share “historical, cultural, and economic ties that are now reaching a new level thanks to Tokayev’s proactive and balanced policies.”

“Most importantly, he has shown that even in complex geopolitical circumstances, one can maintain warmth and constructiveness guided by the idea of peace. Tokayev’s example proves that a true leader is not the one who draws lines of division but the one who builds bridges between us,” the article concludes.
