Tengrinews.kz – Several people have been infected with anthrax in the Atbasar district of Akmola Region, Healthcare Minister Akmaral Alnazarova confirmed.
During a government briefing, journalists asked about four reported cases of anthrax infection. The minister clarified that the patients are in moderate condition and are receiving the necessary medical treatment. Anti-epidemic measures are currently underway.
"The issue is under our control. The patients are in moderate condition and are undergoing treatment. Relevant authorities have been engaged to investigate the cases," Alnazarova explained.
The minister added that a quarantine will not be imposed in the area.
"There are specific conditions required to declare a quarantine, but for this outbreak, the necessary response is already in progress, and a quarantine is not needed," she noted.
According to Alnazarova, all potentially contaminated meat has been confiscated.
"The contaminated meat has been completely removed. Relevant work is being carried out by both the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Healthcare," she concluded.
