According to Almaty’s Emergency Situations Department (DES), abnormally high temperatures ranging from 35°C to 39°C are forecasted in the city from June 17 to 19. In connection with this, Kazhydromet has issued a storm warning.

Emergency services urge residents to follow these safety precautions during the heatwave:

  • Do not light campfires or discard lit matches or cigarette butts in the mountains.
  • Avoid overloading electrical networks—do not plug in multiple appliances at once.
  • Never leave children in a parked car, even for a short time.
  • If possible, avoid prolonged walks and stay in the shade to prevent heatstroke or sunstroke.
