Almaty to host a flower fair May 28

The first batch of flowers from the Netherlands – 2340 chrysanthemums – has been delivered to Almaty for the festival of flowers to be held May 28, the Press Service of the City Mayor’s Office reports. A flower carpet of 48 square meters will be specially made by florists for the event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence. “More flowers are expected to arrive from Ecuador, Israel and other countries. Local flowers will also be used. Cars and bikes participating in a special parade will be ornate with flowers. The event will feature a flower fair and some competitions for professional florists”, the Mayor’s Office reports. The flower event will be held at the Presidential Park in Almaty located at the intersection of Alfarabi and Navoi streets.
