Tengrinews.kz – Almaty’s utility services are gearing up to handle the effects of the upcoming snowfall.
Starting February 26, the city is expected to experience precipitation—initially rain, followed by wet snow in the evening, which will stop by early February 27. Nighttime temperatures will drop to -3…-5°C, while daytime temperatures will range from +1 to +3°C.
"Utility services will switch to an enhanced operational mode. Before the snowfall begins, streets will be treated with anti-icing agents, and 624 special vehicles along with 1,380 road workers will be deployed. To prevent and eliminate ice formation, 46 rapid response teams will patrol hazardous road sections, including slopes, inclines, and highway exits. District akimats will have round-the-clock monitoring in place to oversee the operations," the Almaty administration stated.
Drivers are advised to reduce speed, increase following distances, and avoid sudden maneuvers. Pedestrians should remain cautious on sidewalks. Stay safe and take necessary precautions when outdoors.
