Alleged accomplice of 'Wild Arman' extradited to Kazakhstan from UAE

The extradition was carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs with assistance from the Kazakh Embassy in the UAE.

According to authorities, the suspect is believed to have taken an active role in mass unrest in Almaty between January 5 and 7, 2022, as part of Dzhumageldiev’s gang.

After the events, the suspect fled Kazakhstan and had been on an international wanted list for nearly three years before being apprehended in Dubai.

He is now being held in a pre-trial detention center in Astana.

If convicted, he faces a sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison, along with possible confiscation of property, prosecutors said.

On January 27, Arman Dzhumageldiev was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of forming and leading an organized criminal group, banditry, organizing mass riots, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment in connection with the January 2022 events.
