Tengrinews.kz - The Aksumbe (Akbikesh) tower, a historical monument of the XIII century, partially collapsed in Turkestan region. The regional akimat (government administration) informed our correspondent about this. The destruction occurred due to strong winds and precipitation.
The akimat noted that in May 2019, the tower was included in the list of historical and cultural monuments of national significance.
"The monument, which has a history of the 13th century, requires urgent restoration work. In this regard, the regional department of culture, relying on Article 32 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Protection and Use of Historical and Cultural Heritage Sites", sent an official letter to the Committee on Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan on inclusion in the plan of scientific restoration work for 2025," the akimat reported.
According to the akimat, the tower is located on a hill 1 kilometer west of the village of Aksumbe in the Suzak district.
"The composition of the Aksumbe tower is unique. The original dimensions of the tower were 14 meters wide and 25 meters high, and today - about 7 meters wide and 11 meters high," the akimat said.
At the same time, the department clarified that in 2020, work was carried out to restore the monument by order of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
Previously, a yurt was installed more than 600 meters undeground in Zhezkazgan.
