Tengrinews.kz - Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Erlan Nysanbayev shared information about the well-being of the tigers brought to Kazakhstan from the Netherlands.

According to the minister, these tigers belong to a cold-resistant breed.

"Actually, the Turanian tiger is a relative of the Amur tiger and tolerates cold temperatures well. Currently, they are housed in enclosures, their condition is very good, and they have gained weight. There are no concerns that they won't be able to withstand the winter," Nysanbayev assured during a government briefing.

He also shared expectations regarding the tigers' offspring.

"In the wild, they give birth every 1.5-2 years. We expect to have the first cubs in 2025, at the latest, in 2026. They will undergo an adaptation process and will be released into the wild after 1.5-2 years," the minister added.

Recall: On September 23, two tigers were brought to Kazakhstan from the Netherlands to help restore the population of Turanian tigers.
