Tengrinews.kz - Employees of the anti-drug crime unit in Zhetysu detained members of an organized crime group, which included foreigners and citizens of Kazakhstan, according to Polisia.kz.
The group was operating a drug laboratory producing the psychoactive substance methamphetamine.
"It has been established that in the summer, while in France, a foreigner offered his relative a job abroad. After arriving in Kazakhstan, under the guidance of a supervisor, they organized a drug laboratory and acted according to his instructions. The Kazakhstani provided them with support by supplying the necessary equipment and was also involved in hiding drugs," said Kuandyk Alzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Combating Drug Crime.
During the detention, about 6 kilograms of methamphetamine and special equipment were seized. The suspects are in custody.
An investigation is underway to identify all participants in the criminal scheme and hold them accountable, noted Kuandyk Alzhanov.
