Tengrinews.kz – A horrific traffic accident occurred on a highway in the Aktobe Region, killing 12 people, according to the regional police department’s press service.
The tragedy took place on October 23 on the Samara–Shymkent highway near the village of Belkopa. A DAF truck collided with a passenger Gazelle minibus. Preliminary data indicate that the truck drove into the oncoming lane.
“As a result of the accident, both drivers and ten Gazelle passengers died at the scene. Five people were taken to a medical facility,” police reported.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched. It was established that the Gazelle was officially transporting passengers from the Zhurgenov settlement to the regional center.
Police officers and an investigative team are working at the scene to determine all the circumstances of the incident and conduct necessary investigative actions.
According to the Akimat (administration) of the Aktobe Region, the injured were taken to the Khromtau District Hospital: three are in serious condition, two are in moderate condition, and one person refused hospitalization. Regional Akim Askhat Shakharov arrived at the scene of the accident.
