Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with newly appointed officials from Kazakhstan’s security agencies, including Kanatay Dalmatov, Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee; Bauyrzhan Alenov, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs; and Meiram Abikeev, Chief of the Almaty Region Police Department.

During the meeting, Tokayev provided specific instructions relevant to their areas of responsibility, as confirmed by Akorda's press service.

Bauyrzhan Alenov was appointed as First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs on October 7, while Kanatay Dalmatov took on his role as Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee on October 19. In the Almaty region, Meiram Abikeev was appointed as the new Police Chief on October 19, following the public outcry over the killing of 16-year-old Sherzat Bolat in Talgar district, which led to several high-level dismissals within the police force.

A series of dismissals were executed by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs, including:

  • Serik Shalkharov, First Deputy Head of the Almaty Region Police Department (DP),
  • Nurzhan Kuntunov, Head of Talgar District Police,
  • Ulan Baitakov, Head of the Department for Countering Extremism,
  • Ruslan Smagulov, Head of the Criminal Police Department,
  • Dulat Kaiyr, Head of the Department for Combating Organized Crime, and his Deputy Zhanat Omarov.

Additionally, several akimat officials were also relieved of their duties.
