Tengrinews.kz – Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to Akorda’s press service, the talks took place on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
“The heads of state discussed issues of bilateral economic and humanitarian cooperation,” the press release stated.
It was noted that Zelensky shared his perspective on the situation in Ukraine.
Tokayev expressed his view that in such an extremely complex situation, it is necessary to continue diplomatic efforts to find ways to end the conflict.

As a reminder, at Ukraine’s initiative, a phone call between the two leaders took place on August 10. During that conversation, Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s unconditional interest in establishing lasting peace in Ukraine based on the principles of international law.
The Head of State emphasized that Astana has consistently advocated for a joint search for a fair peace formula, and has firmly supported adherence to the UN Charter, the inviolability of state borders, and the territorial integrity of sovereign nations.
In Tokayev’s view, given the current highly difficult circumstances, it is important to approach conflict resolution in a balanced and rational way, ensuring the preservation and protection of Ukrainian statehood. He believes that all sides should be guided by the ancient wisdom: "A bad peace is better than a good quarrel."
It was also noted that Kazakhstan intends to continue active cooperation with Ukraine across various mutually beneficial areas.
