Tengrinews.kz – Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has ratified an agreement between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in combating crime.
The President signed the law on the ratification of the agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the fight against crime.
The text of the law will be published in the press.
Earlier, it was reported that the ratification of the agreement will enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries and will contribute to strengthening regional security and bilateral relations as a whole.
"The adopted law establishes the legal basis for implementing joint measures to combat crime in both states. The agreement defines specific areas of cooperation, including organized crime, terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking, combating illegal migration, and human trafficking. It also provides mechanisms for deepening partnerships between authorized bodies on other important issues," the Senate previously noted.
According to official information, the agreement includes the exchange of operational and forensic data, cooperation between specialists, and mutual working visits to share experience. The parties will also respond to requests from competent bodies on crime prevention and will organize training and professional development programs for personnel. The document contains provisions on the non-disclosure of received information, as well as other special conditions.
According to the Senate's press service, Kazakhstan has already concluded similar agreements with more than twenty countries, including Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, France, and the UAE.
