Tengrinews.kz – Fraudsters have begun posing as editorial staff to deceive people.

The scammers began posing as editorial staff and sending messages, claiming that they are preparing materials about teachers, cultural figures and other famous personalities. They can write from different Kazakhstan numbers via instant messengers. According to some reports, they can even call, posing as our staff.

The main goal of their scheme is to lure the victim to a certain site, where, under the pretext of confirmation or registration on the forum, they request an SMS code. Having received the code, the scammers probably use it to gain access to personal data or financial transactions. The editorial staff of Tengrinews.kz filed a statement with the police.

Tengrinews.kz does not hold any forums and does not collect personal information on third-party sites!

According to the media, the scammers also pose as members of the Union of Journalists.

If you receive a message like this:

  • Do not share personal information or engage in dialogue.
  • Report suspicious contact to the official Tengrinews WhatsApp number +7 777 001 44 99.
  • Do not follow unfamiliar links.
  • Do not download unfamiliar remote access applications.

You can also verify any request on behalf of our editorial staff via our editorial WhatsApp number.

Earlier, a new type of scam has emerged on the messaging app Telegram, targeting Android device users with malicious APK files disguised as “photo” attachments.

Besides, a lifehack to help Kazakhstanis protect themselves from fraud calls has been revealed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
