Tengrinews.kz – Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov was asked how Russia’s ban on gasoline exports would affect the Kazakh market.
During a government press conference, journalists asked the minister whether the ban, introduced in Russia the day before, would lead to rising prices and fuel shortages in Kazakhstan, especially given that gasoline prices in the country were recently liberalized.
“This is already the third year in a row that Russia imposes gasoline restrictions. But these restrictions do not apply to countries that have signed an intergovernmental agreement — and Kazakhstan has such an agreement,” Akkenzhenov explained.
According to the minister, the situation in the domestic market is currently stable.
“We are self-sufficient in gasoline. This year alone, we even exported about 70,000 tons of gasoline ourselves. This shows that we have no problems with supply, and none are expected,” he added.
Earlier, Russia imposed restrictions on gasoline exports. The measure applies to major producers and will remain in effect until August 31, 2025.
