Tengrinews.kz - A lion and several wild birds were confiscated from a resident of the Saryagash District by police in Kazakhstan.

Authorities from the Organized Crime Control Department discovered a lion and various wild birds in the backyard of a resident in the Saryagash district. The animals, which included a falcon, two golden eagles, two owls, and two kekliks, were seized from the Turkestan region resident who claimed they were kept for personal use.

"The seized animals have been relocated to the Shymkent Zoo. An investigation is underway to determine all the circumstances surrounding this case," police reported.

Earlier, we reported on a Russian citizen who was detained at the border while attempting to smuggle a lemur into Kazakhstan.
