Tengrinews.kz – A criminal group involved in illegal migration was uncovered in Karaganda, according to the regional prosecutor's office.

The scheme involved employees of public service centers, medical institutions, and so-called "helpers."

"The regional prosecutor's office, together with the National Security Committee's department, has halted the activities of a criminal group that illegally issued over 700 temporary residence permits to foreigners," the statement reads.

A case of organizing illegal migration has been registered in the regional prosecutor's Unified Crime Register and transferred to the investigative department of the National Security Committee for a pre-trial investigation.

"Currently, three defendants have been brought to trial," the report specifies.

According to Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, case details are not disclosed in the interest of the investigation.

Earlier, we reported that the National Security Committee in Kyzylorda region and the city of Baikonur, under the coordination of the prosecutor's office, had disrupted a group suspected of organizing illegal migration.
