Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan has responded to information circulating on social media about the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The messages claim that COVID-19 hospitals, particularly in Almaty, are overwhelmed with patients, many of whom are on ventilators.

The Ministry of Healthcare has labeled these messages as false.

"The information being spread in messengers about infectious disease hospitals being overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients is not true. The situation with COVID-19 is under control. Since the beginning of 2024, 1,356 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the country, which is eight times fewer than during the same period last year. COVID-19 patients occupy only 0.1% of the beds allocated for infectious diseases. No deaths have been recorded," the ministry stated.

The Health Department of Almaty also emphasized that the COVID-19 situation in the region remains stable.

"In Almaty, the COVID-19 situation remains stable. Four adult patients are currently being treated in the city's infectious disease hospitals. There are no severe cases, and no patients are on ventilators. No cases have been reported among children," the department reported.

The Ministry of Healthcare urged the public to trust only reliable information from official sources.

"To provide a legal assessment of the actions of those spreading false information, the materials have been handed over to law enforcement agencies," the ministry concluded.
