Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to reports regarding the death of a Kazakh student in Malaysia.
Videos circulating on social media claim that 17-year-old Nuray Kadir, a Kazakh student at Xiamen University Malaysia, died of pneumonia in a private hospital after failing to receive timely medical assistance.
According to the ministry’s official representative, Aibek Smadiyarov, Kazakhstan’s embassy in Malaysia provided full assistance in repatriating the student’s body.
"The consul also coordinated matters with the hospital, university, and insurance company. All expenses related to the transportation of the body, funeral services, and the mother’s airfare were covered by medical insurance," Smadiyarov stated.
He added that the Kazakh embassy is in constant contact with the hospital, which is conducting an internal investigation into the student's death.
"The results will be provided to the deceased's mother. The embassy is also in touch with the university and is assisting the student’s mother with any necessary legal matters," Smadiyarov concluded.
As of January 2025, 63 Kazakh students are officially registered with Kazakhstan’s embassy in Malaysia.
