Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had a phone conversation with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
During the discussion, the parties addressed current issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Nations.
The President highlighted the importance of the unanimous adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution on establishing a regional center for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty. The two leaders also discussed further steps toward institutionalizing the regional center.
Tokayev emphasized that in the year marking the 80th anniversary of the United Nations - still the world's only universal and irreplaceable organization - it is essential for all nations to focus their efforts on upholding its Charter and universally recognized principles of international law.
The UN Secretary-General praised Kazakhstan's peacekeeping efforts and its contribution to strengthening global security and promoting sustainable development.
