Tengrinews.kz - As warm weather sets in across Kazakhstan, cities have begun turning off central heating. In Astana, the heating season may soon come to an end, the capital’s akimat (local government administration) shared.

According to the akimat’s press service, there is a specific condition under which heating will be shut off in residential buildings.

"When the average daily outdoor temperature reaches 10°C or higher for five consecutive calendar days, the Astana akimat makes the decision to end the heating season," the official statement said.

Based on forecasts from Kazhydromet, which Tengrinews.kz contacted with an official request, such a decision could be made as early as the end of this week.

Meteorologists reported that on Sunday, April 6, the average daily temperature in Astana was 10.8°C. On Monday, temperatures were expected to rise to between 17 and 19 °C during the day. On Tuesday, April 8, the city is forecast to see 16–18°C, and on Wednesday, April 9, temperatures are expected to reach 17–19°C.

Earlier, authorities in Almaty announced the date for turning off the heating in the city.
