Tengrinews.kz – Brazil has begun decoding the cockpit voice recorder of the Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), which crashed on December 25 near Aktau, according to Report.

According to Brazilian media, the black boxes arrived in Brazil on Wednesday (Thursday, Astana time). The decoding process began the following day. The data will be analyzed with the participation of specialists from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).

The extracted information will be handed over to Kazakhstan's Aviation Accident Investigation Authority, the agency responsible for analyzing and investigating the incident, FAB officials stated.

The decoding work is being carried out in collaboration with experts from three countries connected to the tragedy. The group includes three investigators each from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Russia.

To recall, the AZAL passenger aircraft, operating a Baku-Grozny flight, crashed on December 25 near Aktau. Of the 67 people on board, 38 died, and 29 survived. Preliminary reports suggest the crash was caused by external physical and technical interference.
