Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Defense has commented on the mass hospitalization of conscripts in the Zhetysu region.

The incident involved new recruits from military unit 18404 in Taldykorgan. During a medical examination, 16 soldiers were found to have symptoms of seasonal respiratory illness.

According to the Ministry of Defense’s press service, the soldiers were admitted to Taldykorgan Military Hospital, with one soldier being transferred to the Multidisciplinary Hospital. Dr. Bolat Tasybayev, who is overseeing the treatment, stated that the conscripts, who joined the Armed Forces on October 4, arrived at the military unit already showing signs of illness.

"Military medical staff took swift measures to isolate and treat them. One soldier, diagnosed with polysegmental pneumonia, was transferred to the Multidisciplinary Hospital. His condition is stable, and there is no threat to his life. He is conscious and able to eat independently. His condition is improving," said Dr. Tasybayev.

The Ministry confirmed that all affected soldiers are receiving full treatment, and several are expected to be discharged soon after completing their treatment.

In the military unit, the Armed Forces’ sanitary and epidemiological center has organized anti-epidemic measures, and health monitoring for the entire personnel has been intensified.

Earlier this year, on August 18, 36 soldiers were hospitalized in the Karaganda region due to an outbreak of acute intestinal infection and respiratory viral infection.
