Tengrinews.kz – Meteorologists have released the weather outlook for Astana and Almaty for 3–5 December.
Astana forecast
On 3 December, the capital will see partly cloudy skies with rain turning to snow, along with fog. Winds from the southeast shifting to the southwest will reach 3–8 m/s at night and 7–12 m/s during the day. Temperatures will range from –1 to –3°C at night and 0 to +2°C in the afternoon.
On 4 December, intermittent snowfall, blowing snow and icy conditions are expected. Westerly and southwesterly winds will strengthen to 9–14 m/s. Temperatures will stay between –2 and 0°C throughout the day.
On 5 December, Astana will have partly cloudy skies and no precipitation. Westerly and northwesterly winds will reach 9–14 m/s, with temperatures holding steady at –2 to 0°C.
Almaty forecast
On 3–4 December, Almaty will see partly cloudy weather without precipitation. Northeastern winds of 3–8 m/s are expected. Temperatures will drop to –1 to –3°C at night and rise to +8 to +10°C during the day.
On 5 December, the city will remain partly cloudy, with rain expected during the daytime. Northwestern winds will reach 3–8 m/s. Temperatures will range from –2 to 0°C at night and +6 to +8°C during the day.
Why winter started without snow
This year, most regions of Kazakhstan began winter with no precipitation and unusually warm temperatures. Forecasters say the trend reflects ongoing climate shifts. If current patterns continue, winters with little or no snow may become the new norm for the country.
