Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet forecasters have published the weather forecast for December 25, 26, and 27.
Heavy precipitation in the south of Kazakhstan
In the coming days, an active northwestern cyclone will move across the territory of Kazakhstan. It will bring snow, and in the southern regions precipitation in the form of snow and rain. On December 26, heavy precipitation is expected in the south and southeast of the country.
“Snowstorms and strengthening winds are expected across the republic, with icy conditions in the western and southern regions,” the forecasters said.
What about the temperature?
On December 27, the cyclone will be replaced by a cold western anticyclone, which will lead to a gradual cessation of precipitation and a drop in air temperature: at night in the northwest and north of the country down to –25…–30°C, and in the east down to –22…–30°C.
Winter in Kazakhstan
This year, the first day of winter was precipitation-free in most regions of Kazakhstan. The country experienced anomalous weather: there was not only no snow cover, but also no sign of snowfall. According to forecasters, if such weather patterns continue, winters with rare snow—or even without it—may become the norm for Kazakhstan. A Tengrinews.kz correspondent looked into what this could be related to.
