Tengrinews.kz - Residents in Almaty were surprised to see public utility workers spraying green liquid on yellowed roadside grass.
According to a video circulating online, the work took place along the Eastern Bypass Highway. Footage shows workers applying the green substance to dried-out vegetation.
The Medeu district akimat (local government administration) clarified that the workers were carrying out landscaping work. Due to the dry summer, a food-grade colorant mixed with fertilizer was used to maintain the lawn’s aesthetic appearance.
“This solution is based on organic pigments, contains no toxic substances, and is safe for people and animals. It gives the grass a green hue, helping it look well-kept,” the district akimat stated.
Officials added that this practice is commonly used in other countries facing harsh weather conditions.
