82-year-old temperature record broken in Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz - April 2026 in Kazakhstan was marked by a series of record-breaking temperatures amid highly unstable weather conditions. Several regions across the country saw temperatures surpass milestones that had held for decades, citing Kazhydromet.

Abnormal April warming

Driven by active cyclones and shifting air masses, the country's weather fluctuated sharply, with heatwaves giving way to cold snaps, rain, and intensifying winds.

While temperatures in the south exceeded +30°C in some areas, northern and eastern regions recorded frosts ranging from -7°C to -12°C.

Turkestan stood out among the updated records, reaching +31.2°C on April 1. This figure surpassed the previous historical high of +28.4°C set in 1944.

In Astana, the average temperature for April was 4.6 degrees above the norm of 6.5°C. The lowest temperature was recorded on April 17 at -5.7°C, while the highest reached +28.6°C on April 30.
