Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan and Russia have concluded an intergovernmental agreement on the distribution of ranges for the 7th zone of world numbering, according to the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry.

In accordance with the agreements, Kazakhstan will use the telephone codes +7 0, +7 6, +7 7. Russia has secured the codes +7 2, +7 3, +7 4, +7 5, +7 9.

"Kazakhstan and Russia will continue to closely cooperate to ensure transparent and efficient use of allocated resources in the interests of citizens of both countries," the statement says.

The information recalls that in 2021, the international code +997 was reserved for Kazakhstan. However, the study of the issue of its implementation revealed a number of serious financial and technological difficulties.

In addition, the transition would require updating the data of all subscribers in government and banking services, social networks and applications. Such a large-scale process created a high risk of failures and inconvenience for citizens.

As a result, the Ministry of Digital Development held additional negotiations with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), after which it was decided to keep the international code +7 unchanged.

Kazakhstan approved the draft agreement on the joint use of the +7 telephone code with Russia at the end of October.
