Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan approved a draft agreement with Russia on the joint use of the telephone code +7.

According to the draft, Kazakhstan and Russia will continue to jointly use the numbering of the 7th zone of the international telephone network (+7).

"To approve the attached draft agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Russian Federation on the joint use of the numbering of the 7th zone of the world numbering," the resolution says.

In addition, Russia will be able to use the following code ranges on an exceptional basis: 200-299, 300-399, 400-499, 500-599, 810-818, 820-821, 831, 833-836, 840-848, 850-851, 855-857, 860-863, 865-867, 869, 871-873, 877-880, 900-999. For example, +7 (950), +7 (904) are used in Russia.

The document states that Kazakhstan is assigned the following range of codes: 000–099, 600–699, 700–799. For example, +7 (775), +7 (701).

Both countries will also have access to the shared ranges: 100–199, 800–809 and 881–899. When sharing ranges of numbering codes, the parties:

  • independently assign codes in the shared ranges of numbering codes in accordance with the legislation of their countries;
  • use the numbering in the specified ranges of numbering codes exclusively in the telephone networks of their countries.

"The unallocated resource of codes (26 codes - 819, 822 - 829, 830, 832, 837 - 839, 849, 852 - 854, 858 - 859, 864, 868, 870, 874 - 876) is assigned to the general reserve. The withdrawal from the reserve and subsequent distribution of the unallocated resource of codes is carried out by mutual agreement of the parties, and is formalized by separate protocols to the agreement between the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the government of the Russian Federation on the joint use of the numbering of the 7th zone of world numbering, which are integral parts of this agreement," the document specifies.

The decree of the Government of Kazakhstan was signed on October 26.

Earlier, The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry has proposed new rules for the sale of SIM cards to individuals and legal entities in Kazakhstan.
