Tengrinews.kz - The National Security Committee (NSC) of Kazakhstan has provided an update on its efforts to combat transnational and regional criminal groups.

According to the NSC, in 2024, joint operations with law enforcement agencies led to the suppression of 19 highly dangerous organized crime groups.

"Seventy-two leaders and active members of organized crime groups have been charged with committing serious and especially grave crimes," the NSC reported.

A total of 98 individuals have been detained on suspicion of murder, robbery, extortion, armed assault, and other serious crimes, including accomplices of foreign criminal leaders. Of these, 40 have been convicted, while pre-trial investigations are ongoing for the remaining suspects.

Earlier, the NSC and police detained foreigners who arrived in Kazakhstan.
