Tengrinews.kz - An 18-year-old who went missing in the mountains near Almaty has been found dead, according to volunteers from Lider.kz.
“Deceased. Found. Our condolences to the family and loved ones,” the volunteer group posted.
The Almaty Police Department confirmed the death, stating that no visible signs of foul play were found.
“There were no visible signs of violent death. A forensic examination has been ordered. The circumstances are being investigated,” the department’s press service said.
Earlier, 18-year-old Nurislam Akylbek was reported missing. According to his family, he had gone hiking in the mountains. His phone was last detected in the area of the Big Almaty Gorge. More than 40 people were involved in the search efforts, including staff from Almaty’s rescue service (109), the Republican Operational Rescue Team (ROSO), the emergency department, border service, police, and volunteers. Aviation, dog units, and drones were also used in the search.
