Tengrinews.kz - A mesmerizing video capturing a herd of horses being driven through the rain in Almaty Region has gone viral on social media.
Photographer and traveler Yernar Almabek shared the atmospheric footage on his Instagram account. According to him, the video features the herding of approximately 500 horses.
The post quickly garnered dozens of comments, with users praising the breathtaking imagery and emphasizing the value of owning such a large number of horses.
"Absolutely beautiful, I watched it over and over again," wrote one commenter. Another added, "You feel a sense of freedom watching this – horses moving through the open steppe is a striking image of peace and grandeur." One user remarked, "The sound of horses neighing is true therapy."
Yernar Almabek revealed that he had filmed the video in late October but only recently decided to post it.
"I follow Daniyar Daukey's Instagram account. Earlier this summer, he posted stories showing herders driving horses from winter pastures to summer ones. I reached out, saying I'd love to film the return journey in the fall with my drone. Daniyar-aga agreed and invited me along," Almabek shared.
He explained the complexities of the task, noting that preparation takes about a month.
"Everything is considered – from the weather and the horses' condition to the day of the week, to avoid traffic. Once the first snow falls, the horses naturally descend from the high pastures, and herders gather them in one place. Daniyar-aga pre-checks the entire route to ensure the road is clear."
The herders drove the horses over a 60-kilometer distance.
"Most drivers were accommodating, allowing the herd to pass, but a few were annoyed. We had to explain the situation. Luckily, everything went smoothly – under the rain, cars stopped, and the herd quickly crossed the road. It was an incredible experience," Almabek added.
