Tengrinews.kz - First Vice Minister of Education Natalya Zhumadildayeva has spoken about the influence of TikTok on children in Kazakhstan and possible measures to restrict it.

Answering journalists' questions on the sidelines of the Senate, Zhumadildayeva said that harmful content affects not only children, but also adults with underdeveloped critical thinking.

"I will tell you one thing: any harmful content affects both a child and an adult. In China, where TikTok was created, children are allowed to use the application for only 40 minutes a day. In addition, there is a content restriction - the child is shown only educational and developmental materials," the First Vice Minister emphasized.

According to her, there are no such restrictions in Kazakhstan, and children and adults consume completely different content.

Natalia Zhumadildaeva added that the Ministry of Education will support the initiative to restrict TikTok.

"Within the legal framework, we will certainly support such initiatives," she said.

Earlier, Mazhilis deputy Zhanarbek Ashimzhanov proposed to restrict access to TikTok for minors in Kazakhstan. Mazhilis member stated that the influence of social networks on the modern generation is becoming increasingly destructive.

By the way, this is not the first attempt to block TikTok in Kazakhstan. Last October, Senator Gennadiy Shipovskih raised concerns about the various issues posed by TikTok in Kazakhstan, including data privacy and children’s online safety.
