Over 400 websites containing extremism-related and pro-terrorist materials have been discovered in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan General Prosecution Office. “The courts are reviewing 14 claims of the prosecution office related to 215 websites and 1 application from the Minister of Communications and Information related to 11 websites. Claims against 100 more websites are being prepared,” the authority’s official representative Nurdaulet Suindikov said. "General Prosecution Office is also interested in free and open use of Internet,” the representative said. “However, it should not violate the rights and freedoms of other citizens, threaten the security of people’s life and health.” October 18 head of Kazakhstan Agency on Religions Kairat Lama Sharif said that Kazakhstan will keep closing access to extremist websites.
